School Vision and Values

We are a Catholic school for all staff and pupils, regardless of background. We underpin our philosophy and faith in the values articulated in the pupil profile. 

 We aim to support the development of staff and pupils in order that they can contribute to the “Greater Good.” This may be through academic success, sporting achieving or through leading in the community. 

Our Catholic ethos is central to all we do – we believe “We are God’s children working together to be our best in love, learning, service and worship.”

• Daily prayers and collective worship in forms. 
• Prayer Leaders appointed for each Form Class – a vital and voluntary role chosen by the pupils. 
• Opportunities to develop understanding of the mission and the values in SMSVC days using “Ten Ten” resources. 
• The Chaplaincy teams and strong pupil leadership with Prayer leaders and Chaplaincy team. 
• Celebration of Mass throughout the Academic Year. Weekly Class Mass KS2 and Adoration/Benediction KS3. Year Group, Key Stage, Whole School Mass and Holydays of Obligation. Pupils create and lead their own Bidding prayers at Mass and personal prayers for Adoration. 
• Reading scripture weekly in form time - Interactive “Weekly Word”. 
• Each form group is named after a local and significant Saint other than Saint Bernadette that is linked to The Our lady of Lourdes. 
• Teaching and using traditional Diocesan encouraged prayers. 
• An environment that is clearly Catholic. Christ is present in each room. 
• A prayer space in each form room. 
• Pupils and staff supporting Catholic charities throughout the year- Lenten walk, CAFOD, Lenten charities, Golden ticket donations. 
• Working with The Columbans- leading MAC wide focus and work on Social Justice through the lens of Asylum seekers. 
• Working with external providers to bring faith-based music into school - One Life Music. 
• Supporting Saint Chads Sanctuary, WOSP Ukraine Appeal, work with Redditch and Bromsgrove Welcomes Refugees and the SVP Society soup kitchen in Birmingham. 
• Delivering the Confirmation program with the parish in Redditch and Bromsgrove. 
• Key Stage Collective Worship. 
• Opportunities to attend Mass at Mount Carmel Church and Saint Chads Cathedral in Birmingham as well as Harvington as part of the confirmation program. 
• Remembrance Day services – pupil leading and active participation – joint MAC celebration. 
• Whole school Masses for days of obligation, where there are significant events that fall during term holidays e.g., Easter and Christmas. 
• Advent and Lent reconciliation services and the opportunity for individual confession available in school for pupils and staff. 
• Chapel available for all pupils all year round especially during Advent and Lent and the Month of Remembrance in November. 
• The Blessed Sacrament is Reserved in our Chapel Tabernacle during Term Time. 
• Rosary is said in Forms during October and May. 
• In May, there is a service for Our Lady in the Niche we have created. 
• Recognition of how shining a light on other faiths brings Catholicism into sharper focus - this is through study and recognition of world religions. Encouraging discission about faith in RE and other lessons. 
• Collective Worship acknowledges Global themes, including World Book Day. 
• Staff and pupil training on how to evaluate Catholic Life effectively. 
• Key quality partnerships with our MAC school and the Worcestershire Primary partnership (Staff induction lead by SD). LR peer mentoring. 
• Substantial number of extra-curricular clubs that support Catholic life and wellbeing. 
• Induction for staff (attendance at Catholic Partnership training). Induction for Pupils teachers (BC).
