The Junior Apprenticeship Program (JAP) has proven to be a catalyst for pupil development at St bede's Catholci Middle School, aiming to transform personal and academic outcomes. This case study examines the programmes measurable impacts in four critical areas: Confidence, Teamwork, Attitude Toward School, and Growth Mindset. Supported by data, visual representations, and pupil testimonials, this analysis highlights the extent of JAP’s influence.


 

Key Impacts

1. Building Confidence

JAP’s focus on real-world applications empowers students to overcome challenges, increasing self-assurance.

Over 90% of participants reported greater confidence in expressing ideas and tackling new challenges with a 14.65% Increase in the cohort’s confidence across the academic year.

2. Enhancing Teamwork Skills

Collaborative learning opportunities teach students how to communicate, adapt, and solve problems together.

Collated data of over 17% increase in students showing improvement within their teamwork and problem-solving skills.

3. Improving Attitude Toward School

By connecting academics to real-life applications, JAP inspires a renewed enthusiasm for learning.

Over 85% of students felt their focus and engagement in school had improved throughout their intervention, with their attitude to school seeing an 11.5% overall increase.

4. Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Students embrace challenges and learn from setbacks, developing resilience and a positive outlook.

Growth Mindset scores within the assessment data were up by 13.6% with the student’s degree of resilience significantly improving by just under 20% across the year.

Through projects that require collaboration, ethical decision-making, and empathy. The programme fosters a spirit of stewardship and care for the common good. Students are inspired to view their skills as tools to contribute meaningfully to the school and local community, reinforcing the school's mission to develop compassionate, socially responsible individuals who act with honesty to serve others through love, learning service and worship.
